Medieval Festival 2018
Wanaka Medieval Festival 3 November 2018
On 3 November 2018 Holy Family Catholic School will turn back time and bring a slice of medieval life to Wanaka. The tranquil surrounds of Wanaka Showgrounds will be transformed into a medieval village complete with artisan crafts, knights' encampment, roving musicians, peddlars and much more.
Free demonstrations and hands-on activities will be on offer, suitable for all ages including: archery, longsword combat, a jousting knight, trebuchet firing, stone carving, wood turning, calligraphy, spinning and weaving, medieval music, song and dance and much, much more.
Be enthralled by the bravery of our knights in full armoured combat, the skill of our medieval puppeteers with life sized marionettes and soak up the lilting tunes of plainchant and period musicians while feasting on medieval inspired fare.
For your chance to win a prize, dress in period costume and join in the opening parade with the town crier, knights, ladies, court musicians, serfs, merchants, vikings, and tumblers.
Medieval times inspire the fantasy and fiction we all love; so whether you are a re-enactment enthusiast, or just want to enjoy a unique family experience, come and join in the merriment of the festival. There is something for everyone.
